The health and safety of our guests is of paramount importance to us, and as such we have always operated with extremely high standards of hygiene at all times, in all areas of the hotel. 

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, we have put several additional measures in place to further enhance our procedures and doubly ensure the personal safety of each and every guest and member of staff on the premises, giving you complete peace of mind for the duration of your stay.

We want you to feel safe and secure from the moment you arrive, to the time you have to leave us. That’s why we’ve enhanced our cleaning practices, guest interactions, staff procedures, and availability of information to ensure your confidence and security.

We have developed these new enhanced procedures in accordance with a combination of the WHO guidelines, UK Hospitality recommendations and Government advice, to ensure that we are not only compliant, but going above and beyond to protect and reassure our guests and staff.

Key changes to our operations to safeguard staff and guest health

Frequent and thorough hand sanitising

We have implemented a strict protocol of frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitiser for staff, with soap and water being the preferred method. Sanitiser has been placed prominently in both front and back areas of the hotel to enable staff and guests to sanitise frequently.

All employees shall follow Government and WHO guidance regarding handwashing. Employees shall wash their hands for at least 20 seconds, or use anti-viral sanitiser when a sink is not available, after any of the following activities: using the toilet, sneezing, touching their face, cleaning, eating, drinking, accepting items from a guest (ID, cash, credit card, room key), taking a break, and before a shift and as needed throughout the shift. 

When cleaning rooms, employees shall wear gloves and aprons for added protection and sanitation efforts.  Staff also have face masks available for their use.

Sanitiser is available for guest use in the following areas: entrance lobby, Guest Lounge/Dining room.

We will be reminding to all guests on arrival of good social distancing,  health and hygiene practises.

Check-in and check-out

We will keep our outside door closed, so please use the entry bell to inform us of your arrival.  If you prefer, or will be arriving outside of reception hours, we will place your room keys in a lock box outside of the hotel for you to let yourself into the hotel without staff contact.

At reception, we will say hello rather than shaking your hand.  We will save our customary goodbye hugs for another time in the future.

We will still offer to help with your luggage, but will maintain social distancing whilst doing so. After handling luggage, staff will wash their hands.

Guests will be asked to put their room keys in a bowl so that they can be disinfected in readiness for the next guests.

We require the names and contact details of all members of your party.  We may need to provide this information to the Government’s Track and Trace service, and it will be held secure in line with GDPR guidelines.

Public Spaces and Communal Areas

Cleaning and disinfecting shall be frequent (multiple times per day) with an emphasis on frequent contact points such as door handles, stair handrails, pens, chip and pin machines, dining surfaces and all seating areas.

Sadly, we will be closing the guest lounge at 8pm each evening as we cannot ensure either social distancing nor sufficiently reduce the risk of cross-contamination.  Should you require anything from the bar, you are requested to ask reception before 8pm.  We will be providing a reduced bar selection.

Guest Rooms

We have always taken pride in providing the highest levels of cleanliness.  Cleaning and disinfecting protocols have been updated to ensure particular attention is paid to high-touch, hard non-porous items including television remote controls, toilet seats and handles, door and furniture handles, taps, bedside tables, light switches, luggage racks, kettles, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, wardrobe doors and flooring. Glasses and crockery are always removed and washed in a dishwasher (not the room sink). Reusable soap/shower gel/shampoo/conditioner bottles will be sanitised between each guest check-in.

We have removed some soft furnishing such as scatter cushions, as well as the books/games normally kept in rooms as an additional precaution.

We will not be cleaning rooms during guest stays.  Guests requiring additional toilet roll/tea/coffee/milk, or fresh towels should make their request to reception.


Our breakfast service will be amended to reduce in-person contact with guests and reduce risks of cross contamination. 

We will operate a more staggered breakfast to ensure social distancing in the dining room.  We request that guests indicate their preferred breakfast time before 8pm of the evening before on the sign up sheet.

We will no longer be providing our breakfast buffet service, and this will be replaced with at table service. We will not lay up the dining tables until after guests arrive to dine.  We have reviewed our menu to ensure that the possibility of cross-contamination is minimised.

The appropriate distance level should be maintained between tables.  We therefore request that you do not move tables in the dining room


Where staff come into contact with items used by customers, they will ensure that they wash their hands before moving on to another task.

Guests are encouraged to wash their hands before entering the dining room, or to use the hand sanitiser provided if hand-washing isn’t possible.

Plan for Responding to Health Concerns

Our staff have been trained on the risks and signs of Covid-19 as per official government advice.  They will not come to work if they are displaying the symptoms of fever/new persistent cough, or if they have been instructed to self-isolate.

Guests are cordially requested to ensure that our staff are told should they develop symptoms whilst staying with us.  Our staff will treat this information with discretion.

The duty manager will then seek to minimise contact between the ill person and other guests and the staff. We request that anyone falling ill should remain isolated and contained within their room on a temporary basis, or removed if required to seek further medical attention. Once the sick person has left the premises, their room – and any other areas or touch points that may have been contaminated - will then be subjected to a quarantine and disinfectant before it is made available again.  All linens will follow a different protocol for deep cleaning, where there has been a suspected Covid-19 infection in a room.
